Hand the Ball during World Cup 2023
2023 promises to be an amazing year for handball in Sweden. The men’s championship will kick off in January and the final match will be held at the Tele2 Arena in Stockholm. The women’s championship will take place in December, with group tournaments held in Gothenburg. This project is being carried out across all six host cities in collaboration with local organizations.
What is Hand the Ball?
Hand the Ball provides a platform for beneficial leisure and encourages children and young people to be active. The objective is to promote physical activity and collaboration to prevent unhealthy lifestyles. Our activities are implemented with an inclusive pedagogical approach that considers individual differences and specific requirements.

Engagement and communication
Hand the Ball Sweden is committed to increasing movement and play among children and young people across the country. With the green ball at the center, we focus on inclusion, communication and strive to remove the pressure of performance and results. We target both schools and clubs with our activity and offer education in leadership and pedagogy.
Through interaction between individual needs, our activities develop both personal and social aspects.
Hand the Ball Foundation
Hand the Ball Sweden was inspired by the Danish Hand the Ball Foundation, with whom we now have a close partnership in regards to international CSR projects. Since 2008, the Hand the Ball Foundation has been helping to get children from low-income backgrounds active. In Nairobi, Kenya, twelve Hand the Ball centers have been created to provide movement and leadership training for children who might not otherwise have access to them.
